Art is an integral part of our civilizations since ancient times. People use a variety of art forms to convey the message to their young ones and coming generations. People use numerous ways some of which are paintings on walls, engrossed symbols on walls, sculptures, poems, verses etcetera. Statues and sculptures are of many types such as statues of god and goddesses, animals, great leaders of history and many others. Sometimes they are even carved on the coins of the particular nation from which that person belongs. One such statue which I recently got an opportunity to see is “The State Of Unity” which happen to be the tallest statue in the world. It is built on an island in river Narmada facing island the Sardar Sarovar Dam in Narmada district. The Statue of Unity, a 182-meter magnificent structure built in honor of one of the great Indian political figure Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He was the first Home Minister of India as well as the first deputy Prime Minister of India. He is highly respected for his leadership in uniting the 562 princely states of India to form the single large Union hence called as the “Unifier of India”. His promise to national integration in the newly independent country was completely obdurate, and earned him the title of “Iron Man of India”. I felt very excited when I first visited it. It was the moment of pride when I came to know that the tallest statue of the world is in India and also about the contribution of the great leader in the formation of one great nation.
